The Last Piece of the Puzzle

Beginning of day 29.

Carpet A is done but needs grouting.

While Chloe works on carpet A, Mike and Ferruccio prepare carpet B for installing.

There is a lot of work to do so we work from sun up to sun down.

End of day 29!

Day 30,  early morning dew.

The grounds of the cemetery are particularly beautiful first thing in the morning.

Mike makes sure the floor is clear of debris and dust before installing on it.

Jump ahead a few hours and we're on the second to last piece!

We have to be mindful of staying out of the other workers' way.

Mike wets the cement for the last piece so the mortar doesn't dry immediately (it's very hot out).

Ferruccio is back buttering the last piece.

The last piece of the puzzle...

Carpet B is installed. End of day 30!

Our final day; grouting and finishing touches.

The tape marks some missing pieces that need to be replaced before grouting.

Mike is caulking around spire A, the final step in the installation process.

The mural has been completely grouted and caulked.

We finished our last day after the sun set and could not get final photos of the mosaics. Mosaika's website will be updated with final photos once the construction is completed and the amphitheatre opens to the public.

The mosaics are not the only artwork of the project, there are a lot of beautiful and thoughtful pieces to see.

The sun sets on our final day.

End of day 31 in beautiful Sarasota.

Eye of the Storm

3/4 of the first carpet is installed.

We have to set up our tent since rain is forecast for today.

The wall before it gets grouted.

The storm before it arrives... End of day 24

The whole carpet is installed.

So we move on to grouting the wall.

End of day 25!

Sun Halo

There was an interesting halo around the sun today.

We grout from the top down so that we can dismantle the scaffolding at the same time.

We`re using three colors of grout on the spire.

Mike is starting to remove the top layer.

By the end of the day, the grouting is done, the scaffolding is down and the halo is gone.
